Inflation Leads High Income Earners To Make Cutbacks

As inflation continues to bite, higher income consumers are increasingly cutting back on their spending. This is having a knock-on effect on businesses, as demand for luxury goods and services begins to fall. While some businesses are weathering the storm, others are already beginning to feel the pinch.

As inflation continues to rise, many high income earners are finding themselves forced to make cutbacks in their spending. This is especially true as the cost of living increases and wages remain stagnant.

For many people, inflation is a hidden tax that eats away at their purchasing power. And as prices continue to rise, it’s becoming harder and harder to make ends meet.

What is Inflation and How It Impacts Our Day-to-day Lives?

Inflation is the rate at which the prices of goods and services rise. It’s measured as an annual percentage and is usually expressed as a point-in-time figure, such as 2.5% inflation in December 2017.

Inflation impacts our day-to-day lives in a number of ways. Firstly, it reduces our purchasing power. As prices rise, our money doesn’t go as far as it used to. This means we have to spend more to buy the same goods and services.

Secondly, inflation can lead to higher interest rates. This is because when prices are rising, lenders will demand a higher rate of return on their loans to compensate for the increased risk.

Lastly, inflation can erode the value of our savings. As prices rise, the purchasing power of our savings decreases. This is why it’s important to invest our money wisely to ensure that it keeps pace with inflation.

While inflation is often seen as a negative thing, it’s not all bad. In fact, a little inflation can actually be good for the economy as it encourages spending and investment.

However, when inflation gets out of control, it can lead to serious problems. High inflation can cause widespread economic hardship as prices spiral out of control. It can also lead to higher interest rates, which can slowdown economic growth.

Different Ways High Income Earners Are Impacted by Inflation

How inflation affects us depends on a number of factors, such as our income, spending habits, and the kind of assets we own.

For example, people on low incomes are typically more impacted by inflation than those on high incomes. This is because they spend a larger proportion of their income on essentials, such as food and housing. As prices rise, they have less money left over for other things.

People with high incomes, on the other hand, are typically more able to weather the effects of inflation. This is because they have more disposable income and can afford to cut back on non-essentials, such as luxury items.

However, even people on high incomes can be affected by inflation. As prices rise, the purchasing power of their money decreases. Below are some of the ways that high income earners are cutting back as inflation bites.

  • Reducing spending on non-essentials: Many people are cutting back on luxuries, such as vacations, new clothes, and nights out.
  • Cutting back on discretionary items: People are also reducing their spending on non-essential items, such as subscription services, gym memberships, and eating out.
  • Saving more: As the purchasing power of their money decreases, many people are trying to offset this by saving more.
  • Investing in inflation-proof assets: Some people are investing in assets that are less likely to be impacted by inflation, such as gold and real estate.
  • Moving to a cheaper location: Inflation can also lead to people moving to cheaper locations, where the cost of living is lower.

While inflation can be a problem for high income earners, there are ways to offset its effects. By cutting back on spending and investing in inflation-proof assets, we can protect our purchasing power and ensure that our money goes further.

Inflation is a reality of life that we all have to deal with. While it can be a nuisance, it’s important to remember that a little inflation can actually be good for the economy. However, when inflation gets out of control, it can lead to serious problems. This is why it’s so important for central banks to keep inflation in check.

Moving 101: Things to Know When Moving to a New State

Moving from one state to another state is no easy task, from budgeting to getting a moving company and getting acquainted with your new location. There are a lot of things to do and a lot more things to know! We are going to review what you need to know when you want to move to a new state.

Different locations come with different challenges; when you’re moving to a new state, you need to know the right place to live. If you get an apartment in a place that is culturally different than what you are used to, it may take more time to get adjusted. And you need to know the best neighborhoods because different regions within a state have different prices for the same type of living space; an apartment in the city could cost far more than an apartment in the suburbs.

If you have a family, knowing about the schools is absolutely necessary. Even if you don’t have kids yet, but you plan to stay in one place for quite a while, it’s very important that you know how good the schools in that state are. It’s also important to know the locations of various schools and their ratings. Conduct thorough research about the schools, but don’t just rely on places like to inform your decision. Try to find more localized reviews of schools to find out what people who attend certain schools are saying.

Another factor is how hard moving is on kids. To try to help them adjust faster, getting them into the right school is important. If the school they are going to move to is quite similar to the school they are living in, it can make the adjustment process easier, but if the change is drastic, then they are going to struggle to adjust. The choice of school can influence where you choose to get your house because if your kids are in public schools, the location of your house greatly determines the standard of the school in that location.

Moving Costs

Picking the right moving company is very important. Moving into a new state is difficult enough even with a trustworthy moving company, but there are horror stories out there from people who chose poorly in this regard. Some moving companies hold your belongings hostage until further unexpected payments are made. It’s vitally important to hire the right moving company because it can also greatly reduce your stress and cost of moving. If you engage the services of a moving company that is incapable of meeting your needs, you will set yourself up for a lot of trouble and stress that you simply don’t need.

Moving to a new state is never the simplest endeavor, but hopefully this list helps make your moving process easier.

Best Guitars for Intermediate Skill Guitar Players

If you’re an intermediate player, then you’re most likely on the hunt for an intermediate guitar. To know if you’re an intermediate skill guitar player, you should consider the following:

  • You should know the rudimentary Major and Minor bar chord shapes.
  • You should be aware of power chords, how they work, and how to use them smoothly.
  • You should also know your necessary open chords and be able to move between them without a hitch.
  • As time goes on, you will be able to discern whether there has been an improvement or not. If you’re still struggling to decide, consider asking someone who listened to you play when you were a beginner. They may be able to provide you with an answer after comparing your skills.

It can be difficult finding wonderful intermediate guitars. Vintage guitars are a wonderful choice because they are often exceptionally well-produced; however, they can be a bit pricey. If you’re really passionate about vintage guitars, you can try finding more inexpensive brands; however it may still be more expensive than the average modern design. Vintage guitars are amazing, but in case you can’t find one you like or are just not a fan of them in general, we have something else for you.

We’ve compiled this list of three electric guitars and three acoustic guitars for intermediate-skill guitar players.

Electric Guitars for Intermediate Skill Guitar Players

Ibanez RG421

The Ibanez RG421 is an electric guitar with a cool design and quality hardware. The design may be simple, but the build is really good, so you will get a lot of use out of it. However, it does not have a locking nut, and it only has one tone control.

ESP LTD GL200K George Lynch

This colorful electric guitar has a basswood body, and it can produce 22 frets. It also has a master volume tone control. It is an affordable option. However, if you prefer 24 frets, this may not be the best option for you.

Schecter Damien Special

This comes with a rosewood fingerboard that offers 24 frets. It has a great finish and great hardware. It has a volume, pickup, and tone selector switch. However, the locking nuts may be hard to tune, and the fretboard markers are a bit difficult to understand. Overall, it’s a good choice for an intermediate-skill guitar player.

Acoustic Guitars for Intermediate Skill Guitar Players

Taylor Guitars Big Baby Taylor

This is a solid guitar. It is a bit smaller than average, which makes it a good choice for younger players. If you’re not a fan of big guitars, then this is the acoustic guitar for you. It is a bit pricey, but the Big Baby Taylor is worth it.

Voyage-Air Songwriter Series VAD-04 Folding Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar

This foldable guitar is easy to carry and use. The design is unique; however, it may be a little confusing. Regardless, it plays well, and it’s quite affordable.

Fender CD-60S Acoustic Guitar

Alvarez is well known as a quality producer of acoustic guitars, and the Jumbo is no exception. This guitar produces amazing sound and is easy to play. However, it is rather large, so if you’re a fan of smaller guitars, this may not be the best option for you.

Is Technical Writing the Right Career for You?

Technical writing follows process documentation to create user instructions, software guides, or scientific knowledge. An entry-level way to see if this career choice could be the right one for you would be to practice writing how-to guides as blog posts.

If you love showing others how to accomplish or understand something specific, this job can be very rewarding.

You must follow several steps in the creation process to ensure that the work is complete. Your journey in this career often starts with an understanding of the technical data you must convey to the reader.

How Technical Research Turns into Writing

Most technical writers don’t have a degree in the field or industry where they work. They create materials based on the research they perform while typing out the text for readers to enjoy.

Let’s use a healthcare writer as an example for this process. This person might be familiar with radiology, but they do not have an understanding of supplements.

If their job were to create a technical manual involving the manufacturing processes followed by Argentyn 23, Sovereign Silver, or Quicksilver Scientific to create a healthy supplement, research would be necessary to complete the assignment.

Technical research involving unfamiliar topics is a common standard for modern writing. If you can find useful information online consistently and love to write, this career could be a perfect choice.

What Are the Benefits of Technical Writing?

When you follow a career path that includes technical writing, your job puts you into a position where you become a lifelong learner. You must be well-versed in each field to produce new documents to follow.

The depth of knowledge and wisdom needed for basic instructions or manual development requires a broad understanding of each subject to ensure accuracy.

Working as a technical writer means that you can find a job in today’s most lucrative fields. Engineering, consulting, health and wellness, manufacturing, and financial institutions all require this service.

Most technical writers can earn a salary that equates to $20 to $40 per hour. Many individuals work on a per-contract basis in this field, so opportunities for traditional full-time employment can be hard to find.
If you are interested in other writing careers, such as publishing, you should spend some time learning about what this career entails and what sort of training you will need to succeed.

Why Warm Weather Doesn’t Always Slow the Spread of a Virus

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus crippled the global economy. Countries like Italy, Spain, and the United States dealt with tens of thousands of deaths, hundreds of thousands of cases, and a lasting impact on families because of COVID-19.

When a pandemic develops, many people look to warmer weather as a way to have life get back to normal. Although many viruses operate on seasonal cycles, a widespread global event doesn’t behave in the same way.

COVID-19 Will Likely Become Endemic

Most experts think that the new coronavirus will become a seasonal event that will slowly get better as humans develop more immunity to it. Although there will always be risk factors to consider for vulnerable populations, the pandemic months of 2020 should be the worst that there are for this disease.

The same issue happened during the influenza outbreaks of 1918 and 1919, globally. Often referred to as the Spanish flu, it came in three waves to take up to 50 million lives during those 12 months it was active.

Now that the influenza virus is part of the regular seasonal cycle. COVID-19 will become part of that process. The question that we need to answer is whether the sensitivity of the virus to the seasons can influence its capacity to spread.

Related Coronaviruses are Already Seasonal

Coronaviruses are part of a family of enveloped viruses. When you look at them in a microscope, then you can see a lipid bilayer that looks like it is wearing an oily coat. Then proteins stick out of it like the points of a crown to encourage cell infections once it enters the body.

Although other coronaviruses are already seasonal and COVID-19 is about 90% similar to the 2003 SARS virus, the protein spikes in this new version seem wired to infect human cells easier. That’s why it is such an infectious disease. People can start spreading it for up to five days before any symptoms display – and some people don’t have any symptoms.

That’s why we need to be cautiously hopeful. Warm weather can slow the spread of a virus, but it isn’t a guarantee. You can still catch a case of influenza during the summer months. There’s nothing to suggest that the new coronavirus will be any different.

Warm weather can make the oily coat of the virus more susceptible to death before it can infect someone. Cold weather causes it to harden to a rubbery state for more resiliency. Until we know more about how COVID-19 behaves, we must assume that the virus will survive.

How Publishing Training Can Expand Career Opportunities

Publishing offers more avenues toward career development than ever before.

Authors can use self-publishing resources to promote personal works, but they need help from trained professionals to complete that process.

You can publish materials online, through ebooks, opinion pieces, as whitepapers, or use traditional processes that have been around for centuries today. Some companies use all of those options to promote their brand and business.

The need for industry knowledge means that publishing training is essential in almost every corner of the economy. It’s a task that is no longer only for the junior staff in an organization.

How to Acquire More Training as a Professional

The traditional method of ongoing training takes one of two roads. You can either use the internal options that employers make available to their staff or use independent courses made available through independent institutions.

Most people use the first option because of the cost profile associated with publishing training. Entering a degree program or certification course can put someone back several hundred dollars.

For those who want to advance their career, a degree-granting program is usually the only choice available to them. With the job market unpredictable after the era of COVID-19, you need every credential possible to stay competitive.

Customized Programs Unlock New Opportunities

As the competitive market for publishing training continues growing, more customization in the programs and classes is easier to obtain. Employers are even discovering that online options can promote higher levels of productivity without compromising internal schedules.

You can even attend in-person training opportunities remotely by using tools like Zoom to interact with other class participants.

External training programs are not without their difficulties. The programs offered outside of the publishing world tend to provide generic information that you could find on the Internet if you spent a few days doing some research. The required cost to attend these events may not be worth what gets offered in the curriculum.

Having a training course that’s well-presented or interesting doesn’t mean that you’re receiving useful information. Entrepreneurs have discovered this space for professionals, and they are working to exploit it in ways that aren’t always helpful.

If you want to expand your career opportunities at work, then consider asking your employer about the availability of publishing training. Even if you receive credit toward an outside program, it could be a decision that changes your life.

Why Planting Trees Won’t Solve the Climate Crisis

The fight against climate change seems pretty straightforward. If we produce more carbon, then we should plant more trees. That would allow us to create a net-zero approach to emissions so that we can maintain healthy ecosystems.

Unfortunately, a solution to our climate crisis isn’t that simple. The act of planting trees isn’t good enough to support our environment. We need our ancient forests and their complexities to create healthy habitats that support all forms of life.

When we plant trees, it is usually through a monoculture approach. Instead of helping to restore homeostasis to our environment, we end up creating even more problems. So, for example, simply going to India and planting millions of trees isn’t going to help the air quality.

Some Countries Have Increased Forest Cover by 20%

Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Greece, and several other countries have managed to increase their forest cover by over 20% in the past 25 years.

What the data suggests is that our forests are getting cut down faster than we can plant trees to replace them.

Cameroon is home to the essential Congo basin rainforest. The government offered to create 12 million hectares of tree cover by 2030. The only problem with that promise is that over 20% of the country’s forests have disappeared to make way for subsistence farming.

The rainforest got replaced with palm oil and banana plantations.

Nigeria pledged to plant a million hectares of trees, but it has lost over 10 million hectares over the past 25 years.

Tree cover is not the same as a forest.

How Much Carbon Does a Forest Remove?

Commercial plantations harvest trees about once per decade. That makes them less efficient at taking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.

If we are to keep global warming in check, then 199 petagrams of carbon must get taken out of our atmosphere by 2100. Creating 350 million hectares of natural forest reforestation would handle about 20% of that goal by itself.

The storage potential for commercialized tree cover is only 16 petagrams with the same acreage. If we don’t change our behavior, then that figure drops to only 3 petagrams.

That’s why we need to move away from the idea of monoculture. Mixed farms might be challenging to run, but it is the approach that supports are ecosystems.

It takes time for trees to grow and store carbon. We must start moving now if we’re going to protect our planet. If we fail to act, then future generations may find themselves struggling for their very survival.

What the Boy Scouts of America Filing for Bankruptcy Means for the Organization

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) filed for bankruptcy protection in February 2020 to relieve the legal pressure it faces from litigation started by sexual abuse victims.

The bankruptcy means that a judge will now place a ceiling on the amount that the BSA will pay to each victim. That means the proceedings could limit the number of assets that get awarded to victims from the accounts of local councils.

A total of 275 lawsuits are currently pending for this century-old organization. An expectation that several thousand additional claims could get filed is considered reasonable because new state laws allow victims to bring cases to the court regardless of when the misconduct happened.

Chapter 11 Allows Scouting Programs to Continue

The BSA says that it intends to use the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process to create a trust that provides compensation to victims. Although the court proceedings will continue, scouting programs will not get interrupted because of this process.

BSA has explored the possibility of filing for bankruptcy since December 2018. It hired a law firm at the time to look at the advantages and disadvantages of Chapter 11 at that time.

The structure of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows the organization to create a reorganization plan that keeps the business alive. Creditors still get paid, but the terms of the repayment get renegotiated under the court’s supervision.

BSA made the filing in Delaware.

BSA’s Potential Liability Is Massive

A case in Portland that involved sexual abuse allegations against the Boy Scouts of America resulted in a verdict of nearly $20 million.

Up until the past decade, the BSA had insurance that would cover claims of sexual abuse. Carriers started withdrawing this coverage protection because they argue that the organization knew about the abuse and didn’t tell anyone.

That means the BSA now faces the prospect of funding settlements and litigation internally.

Even with those challenges, the organization had assets in 2018 that totaled $1.4 billion. Another $1.9 billion is in the accounts of local troops. That means the organization is solvent, even when facing the potential surge of upcoming litigation.

BSA likely hopes that the Chapter 11 filing shields the assets of local councils in the same way that the Catholic dioceses could protect parishes and properties from claims.

This case is a warning for any organization that isn’t taking reports of abuse seriously. If the largest youth organization in the U.S. can get crippled because they did nothing, then it can happen to anyone.
